Computer troubleshooting is a process that requires both logic and knowledge of every component of the computer. Knowing the boot process and the way components interact with each other holds the key to effectively troubleshoot a problem. PC glitches can basically be separated into hardware and software related issues.

Hardware issues manifest themselves in the form of beep codes, blank screen, a Blue Screen of Death, system freeze or even smoke. Software issues, on the other hand, throw out Blue Screen of Death and other error messages as the Windows starts up.

• Carefully note down the error message displayed on the screen, if any.
  The codes will help the technicians to pinpoint the exact cause of the problems.
• If your system is emitting out smoke, unplug the computer.
• Note down the frequency of beep codes and whether they are long or short.
• Make sure there are no disks in any of the drives.
